The Standing Committee of National People’s Congress passed a national security law for Hong Kong on June 30, 2020.
With this legislation, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) clearly expressed that;
- China has broken it’s promise in the Sino-British Joint Declaration which was signed by China and the United Kingdom on 19 December 1984, and registered by China and UK at the United Nations on 12 June, 1985.
- China ignores G7 statement on June 18, 2020.
- China doesn’t make much of freedom and democracy.
CCP is saying that the world should follow Chinese way and China disobeys the way of int’l society. Moreover, China completely had US and UK lose their face.
There are reports of people deleting Facebook posts, and concerns that candidates opposing the national security law will be disqualified from running in elections.
